Zagrebački muzej Mimara ugostit će konferenciju na kojoj će se tematizirati poratni spomenici u post-komunističkoj Europi. Na konferenciji bit će predstavljeno 23 predavanja istraživača s područja Europe i SAD-a.

Konferenciju organizira udruga SF:ius – Socijalni rub: zanimljive neispričane priče iz Zagreba u suradnji s ICOMOS-om Hrvatska. Konferencija se održava u sklopu međunarodnog programa (NE)PRIMJERENI SPOMENICI.

Kolektivna trauma nastala u europskoj memoriji nakon II. svjetskog rata, rezultira je podizanjem nebrojenih spomenika diljem cijele Europe u spomen na događaje i bitke te na civilne i vojne žrtve. U razdoblju od skoro 45 godina, kako na području onoga što je u poslijeratnoj podjeli Europe naziva Zapadnim blokom, tako i na području Istočnog bloka i (nesvrstane) Jugoslavije, podizana su brojna spomen-obilježja. Za razliku od dominantnog mišljenja kako su spomen-obilježja podizana na području Istočnog bloka i Jugoslavije rađeni isključivo u duhu soc-realizma te da su podizani po nalogu države, oni se pokazuju kao tipološki i stilski heterogen skup, a podizale su ih jednako i država i lokalna zajednica.

Padom komunizma i uvođenjem tržišne ekonomije i višestranačja, dolazi do bitnih promjena kako na institucionalno-pravnoj razini, tako i na onoj simboličnoj. Unutar pravnog okvira mijenja se funkcioniranje institucija i državnih službi postsocijalističkih država te zakonska regulativa, dok na simboličkoj razini dolazi do odbacivanja nositelja simboličkog kapitala bivšeg sustava.

Uzimajući u obzir opseg ove baštine, ulaganje u ponovno otkrivanje, očuvanje i konzervatorski tretman spomen-obilježja zahtijeva velika financijska sredstva. No prije nego se postavi pitanje financiranja, nužno se pitati: treba li se ta osporena baština restaurirati i za koga to činiti? Na koje je načine promjena političke paradigme ove spomenike učinila nepoželjnima u novonastalim postsocijalističkim državama? Jesu li procesi nijekanja i potiskivanja doprinijeli poništenju izvorno upisanog ideološkog naboja tih namjernih spomenika? Ako jesu, možemo li i smijemo li ih danas tretirati isključivo kao nositelje estetskih vrijednosti, čak i kada su očuvani kao fragmenti? Mogu li se ovi spomenici kao relikti jedne zanjekane prošlosti početi promišljati kao dio turističke industrije? Mogu li se i trebaju li se oštećeni ili razoreni spomenici vratiti u stanje izvorne cjelovitosti ili je u konzervatorskom tretiranju potrebno komemorirati i razdoblje nijekanja, potiskivanja i oštećivanja? Kakva je uloga baštinskih zajednica u odnosu na preživljavanje i oživljavanje te baštine?
